The Jersey City Medical Center is today launching its “I Quit Smoking” program, which promises to help smokers kick the habit for good.

The program will use a combination of medications and counseling to treat the psychological and physical symptoms of tobacco dependence, said hospital spokesman Mark Rabson.

“It’s for people who smoke and have tried many other methods that haven’t worked for them,” he said. “This is a medical and counseling solution to stop smoking.”

The program is just like any other hospital service, a fee is charged and insurance is accepted.

The kickoff is today at 10 a.m. in the lobby of the Medical Center’s office building, 377 Skinner Drive, located behind the hospital at Grand Street and Jersey Avenue.
