Weho Medical Clinic Accused of Practicing Without License - West Hollywood, CA Patch

Calayan Medical Clinic is practicing cosmetic surgical procedures without a license, Medical Board of California investigators alleged this week.

After receiving complaints from patients who said they had been injured by laser treatments, investigators from the board’s Operation Safe Medicine conducted surveillance of the clinic.

Calayan Corporation had opened a medical practice in Los Angeles where cosmetic surgical procedures, including laser and Botox treatments, were being performed. The practice subsequently moved to the Sunset Medical Tower in West Hollywood, according to its website.

An Operate Safe undercover investigator posed as a patient and obtained evidence that an unlicensed female represented herself as a licensed medical doctor, diagnosed a medical condition, and performed laser treatments, the medical board alleges.

Based on this investigation, a search warrant was obtained and served Tuesday.

"The mission of the medical board is public protection, and this action reflects the board's ongoing commitment to that mission," said Linda Whitney, executive director of the medical board.

The case, which alleges a violation of the Business and Professions Code section 2052 or practicing medicine without a license, has been referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.
