Scotland Yard Investigates Issue of Tampered Medicines | TopNews United States

Medicines have been found tainted with anti-psychotic Seroquel XL 50mg and anti-epileptic drugs Neurontin, produced by Pfizer. Reckitt Benckiser, medicine producer, has orderd to stop the supply of lot of medicines being doubted to be contaminated. He also issued orders to re-collect the stocks dispatched to the medical stores.

The Scotland Yard is investigating the issue and has held a 30-year-old man in custody on the grounds of his being involved in interfering with the production of the drugs. The tampered drugs were being sold at Victoria in London and Bromley and Beckenham in South London.

The investigating officials were carrying out further investigation after finding medicine Nurofen Plus interfered with anti-psychotic and anti-epileptic drugs. Nurofen Plus is a painkiller and the tablet has been found to be replaced by other medicines.

The stock of August 26 has been recalled by the medicine producing company. It is being estimated that around 250,000 medicine consumers were having the contaminated medicine. The issue has given way to alarming drug safety issues. The agency has also carried out an investigation into the issue of medicine being meddled.
